Lol aye take it for a good drive!!180miles so far engine light stayed off!! Woo!!

Looks like youve found your problem :)

I managed to get a vid for you

I went on a EPIC drive with a couple of mates tonight, through a selecion of fast country lanes and really put the car through its passes, something i havent done in a good while. The cars in attendence were a 240bhp 20vt golf, a 180bhp 20vt audi a3, a lancer sport, a civic mb3 and a vti. Despite having the least power i didnt feel like i was being left behind at all and through the twisties i was being held up more than anything

The car performed faultless but there were a few problems experianced through the night  at a bump in the road i seemed to loose a headlight and fog light together leaving me like this

C13B4F36-DD6F-4C16-B94D-3B72CC288CBA-8820-00000DBB7B2AF8C0.jpg

Good job my main beams are really good so i became the lead car

And as we were heading home the audi decided that it had enough of high boost and blew its headgasket in a big cloud of steam

After this i honestly do feel like i have unfinished buisness with the little SR, they are such a great car to drive and throw about!

Thanks dude!!!!! I will check that later tnight

Damn bumps, my old HIDs did that on the polo I had hehehe. Sounds like a good run then!...except for the audi blowing the head gasket.

Couple of my mates are running crazy machines...one is making a mk1 golf 20VT, another in my local forum new shape Colt running 300BHP damn that little thing hasnt been beaten of the line yet!.

Wish I had the time and money to spend on the SR :(

Yes, we did bout 150ish miles yest, we generally meet up tuesday as most have kids etc and we all just decided that it was the order of the night! We havent done it in a long time and was a good night!

Ye most of my mates have got over 200bhp lmao, i used to have some seriously quick cars a few years ago...

Yes the audi did it in spectacular fashion, its been going for a while. Its already in bits on my mates drive

The 2zz would be ideal in the SR, but then engines go for the same money as a whole Tsport does!

Think the rad pipe touching the inlet manifold is eventually going give way. Where it touches the inlet the rad pipe is starting to soften up.

So what im asking is how do we get around this. Custom rubber rad pipe? Not sure what angles are needed. A 90 deg out of the rad then could a joining aluminium piece. Cut the orig pipe n join to the new pipe via the alumin piece?

Ive just cut and moved the protector on the pipe to where its close to the rad point. Wont ever damage the rad pipe then

On the original rad pipe a bit further down theres a rubber cover thats on the pipe. I cut mine a moved it but if u pull that pipe off and use some lube (:lol;) youd prob be able to move it down the pipe to protect that part of it ;)

Lol right i get what you mean now. But isnt that extra part protecting the pipe from other stuff???!! Maybe not that important?

It was protecting the space where the 3zz inlet and throttle body were - as these are moved forward with the 1zz bits theres nothing there it needs protecting anymore ;)

Right guys im doing something similar to my 1.4 4zz-fe

I am getting the inlet manifold, throttle body and fuel injectors without the rail from the older 2001 1.8 1zz-fe avensis,

I have a custom intake on my car so I do not have to worry about the airbox

my question is that is it ok to buy the parts from the older 1zz avensis between 01-03 or the newer 04 onwards avensis?

that should not be a problem mate, the engines are basically the same from the date the zz engines went in to production to the e12 went out of production ;) don`t know about the newer models

edit: you migth run a little rich with the 1zz injectors, do you know the spec of the 4zz ones ?

Thanks EXS, now I can relax as I know the throttle body, inlet manifold and fuel injectors will fit from the 2001 1zz-fe that I have ordered from :D

I do not know the spec of the 4zz injectors however Steven252 mentioned that the 4zz and 3zz may be the same? Also if it does run rich wont the ecu adjust?

Thanks again mate

Im pritty sure both the 3/4zz are the same. Post up a picture of your 4zz ones and ill be able to tell you.

The ecu can only adjust so much, it might be alittle too much for it too adjust fully on a 1.4, hense running a little rich.

Thanks mate, I will try and get a photo soon.

I will fit the 1zz injectors and run them for a while and if the car runs rich I will put the 4zz injectors back in :)

And if the 3zz and 4zz ones turn out to be different then I'll stick some 3zz ones in haha

As said above think it should be ok to go ahead with it. Think my parts are from a 03 avensis. Sounds like a good plan for the injectors.

Mine is running normal again woooo! Stupid brick...Steven you got extra trays under for protection?

Oh so you got yours off the newer avensis

will I need to order anything extra like gaskets or piping? If so where from? And what size etc.

I also have seen that my radiator pipe doesnt come in the way so thats one less thing to worry about :)

Had a look under the hood and this job seems pretty simple, will I need to change the throttle cable or anything? Or will the corolla cable fit onto the avensis throttle body?

Cheers guys

You shouldnt need any extra piping dude. But the rad pipe should be touching! Unless the 4zz has a diff rad? The standard cable will fit the avensis tb. Check out my previous posts

As said the avensis 1zz manifold the same no matter the year. The only thing that changed was the electronic TB

Youll need a new gasket which IIRC is £8 from a local motor factors.

Other than that its a bolt on job. Youll use your excisting TB cable but will have to mount it to the 1zz cable braket. Two 12mm spanners needed to do that :)

Hes fitting it into a E12 dude. They come in 1zz form though very rare. So the rad pipe is in a different place ;)

Thanks guys, just waiting for the parts to arrive...I'm a bit excited :D

will report back if I have problems,

may have to make up another custom intake though as the current one may be too small in diameter

You cant make the pipe that houses the maf sensor any bigger mate. Otherwise it gets the wrong airflow signal and runs like crap.
