Avensis Steering Wheel Remote Control On The Fritz

Hi all,

I recently bought a 2008 Avensis D4D TR which I'm very happy with. However, I've got a minor issue with the remote controls on the steering wheel. While the volume control works fine, the 'up/down' control which flips through radio stations and CD tracks is on the fritz a little.

Essentially the problem is that both the up and down controls both go 'down' - I can only go backwards through CDs and cycle through radio presets backwards.

There's also an intermittent problem with the Mode button which switches between the radio and CD player - sometimes it just won't work, but it seems to have no problem with activating the bluetooth phone interface (when it's pressed and held for a few seconds).

Any idea what the problem might be? Is it a wiring issue or something that just needs a reset in the firmware? The horn and cruise control, which are both attached to the steering wheel itself, both work fine.

Thanks in advance,

HH

Sorry, I didn't realise anyone had replied.

It is the Toyota integrated touchscreen sat nav/CD/radio system. What's interesting is, last night I had to change the Battery, which reset the system to a degree (it forgot display settings and radio presets etc), and the steering wheel controls magically started to work properly. However, my wife drove to and from work today and when I drove it after that the problem had reoccured. There's obviously no problem with the wiring, so I assume it's a bug in the firmware or something.
