I have been having a little debate which is the faster car?

The MK1 superchargerd or the fiesta RS Turbo?

Superchargers are always there while trubo suffer from lag. Both cars are simalar body wieghts and both 1600cc's?

Which are faster? Any figures for 0-60, 0-100 and top speed? For standard out of the factory?

Well from what I've been able to find, the MK1 should beat the Fiesta easily:

Fiesta RS Turbo: 0 - 60 in 7.7 seconds

MK 1 Supercharger: 0 - 60 in 6.4 seconds

However, I think these times are a little optimistic for the MR2, so they may be more closely matched.....

A normal NA Mk1 would give the fiesta a run for it's money ..

The SC would toast it .

i doubt it'd toast it, i reckon a close run thing. rmeember one mag had a supercharged mk1 a while ago and only managed a 9 sec 0-60. the fiestas are pretty quick for what they are and are easier to get big power out of

If I had an SC that was running 9 second 0-60's I'd be very worried indeed (my na pulled 8.1 the week I got it). Munches Escort RS' no problems (that might be because it's on twisty roads though).

We're converting my mate's SC from an auto to a manual 'box at the moment. Will give that a rip once it's back together and see what sort of times we get off that.

<mini hijack> Finally got hold of the turbo for my little project though :) T-25 mk1 anyone? Should be fun to see what that'll do <end mini hijack>

Also if they are launching, the MR2 should in theory win as it's RWD and won't scrabble at the ground :)
