GAZOO Racing has launched a special limited edition 100 unit run of a tuned up Toyota iQ called the Toyota iQ GRMN Supercharger, priced at 3,550,000 Japan Yen which translates to about RM144k at current exchange rates. In this case, GRMN stands for Gazoo Racing tuned by MN.

The Toyota iQ GRMN Supercharger has an 1NR-FE 1.33 litre engine with a supercharger slapped on, mated to a 6-speed manual. Peak output is 122 PS at 5,200rpm and 174Nm of torque at 4,800rpm, which is the torque equivalent to a 1.8 litre engine, all in a small 990kg car. As a comparison, a standard Toyota iQ has either a 1.0 litre motor that does 68 PS and 98Nm or a 1.33 litre motor making 94 PS and 118Nm.

Picture can be found here

For a price like the Cygnet, you can get a souped up version of iQ that is essentially a 1.8L in a tiny car?! This is madness... Think of the MPG! :P

Completely goes against everything the IQ was brought out to be - but it's quite smart! :) Wouldn't a engine replacement be cheaper? Yes it would take a while to upgrade driveshafts/suspension and loads of other drivetrain equipment but someone has probably done it or already have! Like the wheels, Taz's bodykit is way nicer tho

Just strange that the article compares it with a 1.0 without mentioning economy on it or with the economy of a standard 4 cylinder 1.3 even.

Then the performance figures are pretty poor for 2012 or 2013 standards IMO.

even the new Ford 3 cylinder engines will have a version with 125bhp from a 1.0 litre engine.

and i have pointed before to the VAG Twin Chargers with 7 speed DSG box,

Polo GTI, A1 & Fabia vRS

& no longer available Seat Cupra (Super Charged & Turbo charged) that make 178 -185 bhp (A1) from only 1390cc & they start at £15,000 new just now. (£10,000 used)

& can still do over 50 mpg at motorway speeds.
