Hello,

did read somewhere too much oil can blow a gasket?

Plan is to drive to Lapland (and back) so oil will level down, one way or other...

Likely to blow an oil seal if overfilled too much, that could be expensive if left to leak, especially if it were a rear main that leaked

Safer to drop a bit out if it is way overfilled, a tiny amount would not make a lot of difference

Too much oil in the engine sump can lead to serious engine damage. Best to keep the level on or just below the maximum mark.
