Funnily enough, I found out my dad is on the verge of impulse buying a Prius Mk2 yesterday :eek:

They seem a bit pricey from a dealer tho'; What's a good ballpark figure?

Anything worth checking? I checked out the Honest John article and e-mailed The Bads to him so he could read up on it but aside from a waterpump recall and some brake squeal it seems suspiciously fault free :lol:

@kenphd - This any use? http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/toyota/prius-2009/?section=bad

If you drive the car in the real world you can acheive anywhere between 40 and 70mpg depending upon your own prefered style of driving and the characteristics of your chosen journeys.

For example, five minute thrashes from with a cold engine in cold weather will see very poor consumption whilst very careful use of the throttle, little use of the brakes, conservative speed in warm weather without using the air conditioning will have you boring the pants off your neighbours with tales of the unheard of economies.

You can look at real world fuel consumptions on fuelly.com and you will see that the figures for a 2012 prius range from 45 to 72 mpg.

I found these 3 very informative:

This for how it all works:

And this as a car review:

And for real world MPG look here and switch to UK for our MPG:
