2010 Avensis To 2012 Model

Soon be time to change my T4 to the latest spec Avensis, has anyone changed to new model and if so are the upgrades noticeable in the real world?

The new model has more insulation, turbo changed, steering and suspension changes along with a raft of tweaks.

Have these changes made the car much better.

I have a 2.0 D4D and am considering the 1.8 VVTI as my mileage is low although the car virtually never does any urban use.

I will try the new model soon but a short test drive is no substitute for long term use.

Any information much appreciated.

I don't think you will find many people with the new model on this forum, unfortunately

Only info I can give you is with regard to the 1.8 petrol engine and CVT box. I have this combination in a 2010 Estate. I moved from a 2.4 auto Honda Accord about 4 months ago and found that the engine was comparable power wise especially if using the sport mode for a quick getaway or overtake. I currently use it for a semi rural daily commute of 12 miles each way plus rural with a motorway run of 80 miles at least twice a month. I am not a boy racer but don't hang around either and tend to set the cruise at 80 on the motorway. Constant brim to brim check gives 37.7 mpg which surprisingly also shows up the same on the on board computer. Total annual mileage is expected to be less than 10000 so wouldn't even consider a diesel for that reason alone.

I did consider hanging on for the 2012 model but the differences seemed minimal and there were some very good deals around at the time at Toyota dealers so took the plunge. No regrets to date.

with the oldest T27s only being a liitle over 3 1/2 years old I doubt that too many people will have had both the T27 & a T27 facelift - & even that would be assuming that 100% replaced an Avensis with another Avensis which simply doesn't happen in the real world.

Thanks for the replies, I have been very pleased with my car and am tempted to buy another Avensis.

I will try for an extended trial.

It's a funny thing but you wou would think that when spending around £23,000 plus you would be able to get more than a quick blast down the road.

don't know about Toyota dealers but Vauxhall will let you borrow a car for a day/weekend.
