My T180 Avensis surprised me over the past few days on two 220 mile motorway runs:-

Fully laden - 50mpg

2 people only in the car no luggage - 52.8 mpg

Speed circa 60mph - 5th gear - using cruise control mostly.

Anyone with similar results ?

Speed makes a big difference, increase the speed to around 65mph & mpg dros to around 46-47mg

I've managed to get better fuel economy on my daily commute by staying in lower gears and being steady with my right foot. I totally agree with your findings, the T180 can be very economical on a steady drive but when you unleash the power it's as thirsty as an alcoholic on an all inclusive trip to Jamaica.
