When Do I Change The Timing Belt On My 98 Starlet?

Hi

I've recently bought a '98 Starlet GLS with 69,000 documented miles on it.

Despite having MOTs there's no service history so

when should the timing belt have been done please?

Hi. At 69k I would say it should have been done from 50k onward if only for the age of it. If it's not been done it's due around about now! I had my 98's done at 51k when I bought it.

HI

My 98 starlet service book says must be done at 63000 or 5 years which ever comes 1st. If its been done recently most garages put a sticker with the date it was changes somewhere in the engine bay near the belt. I would take a look at the belt and if it doesnt look reasonably new get it done.
