Anyone Paying Sub £170 A Year For Insurance?

If so who with? I have just renewed with 1st direct who repeatedly come back as the cheapest quote, £170 fully comp for the year... I thought last years renewal with Admiral at £210 was good but seemed there was more money to be had off this year. What with running costs and no tax it steers me towards keeping the IQ rather than part exchanging next year,

£230 for my iQ3 a year. I'm 35 years old, live in West Sussex / Surrey and insure it for work use too (Travel to and from pre arranged meetings) No previous accidents or convictions. (yet)

£170 sound great. :)

Craig.

My cheapest renewal quote is £95 through the Meerkat site with Budget although I am with Direct Line just now who are quite a bit more expensive.

I am at present waiting for their quote and wil have to decide whether to change or not when it comes.

I am retired so my situation is hardly relevant to you young devils but I thought it would be of interest to some.

£166.27 through my broker with Allianz. That is for my wife and I, comprehensive, with 10 years NCD granted. I have always had great service from my insurance broker. I have been with them for zillions of years, or is it somewhere closer to the early eighties? Yep. Been with them since the early eighties. Some other very good deals on here mind! John... £95, wow! Very good.

(Off Topic here, sorry)

BTW John, my Dad has a mate up your way -Fife- (I know, he's got two arms, two legs and a head...) called Ian. So that narrows it down a bit. Well, he used to be a big farm owner, sold up most if not all of it a few years back, used to have a red two seat kit car and has now got a Jaaaaaarrrrrg E-Type. Don't know the colour, can't recall Ian's surname for the life of me at the moment. Nice bloke though. Ex RAF and goes to RAF reunions in Buxton every now and then. The last one was this year, May I think. Still, you probably don't know him but, hey, ya never know, it's a small world right?

Its a funny old thing car insurance. It used to be that if you lived in a inner city with car crime rate Then you got hammered. Usual thing for joy riders, smash the window, get in, smash the steering wheel backwards and forwards till the lock broke, short out the ignition switch and your away. Now of course its all changed, you are not going to steal a modern car in a hurry unless you have the keys. But the insurance is still loaded. I have 2 cars 1 in a big town the other in a sleepy village 15 miles from cambridge. Similar grouping, nearly the same price over £300 and I'm retired with min of 9 yrs no claims no convictions. Crazy

You'll be pleased to know David that the Insurance industry is being looked at by... who is it now? Anyway, they are being investigated for overcharging. Can't find the details right now but they are going to be in some deep doo-doo, maybe like the banks... no, they were let off with it weren't they really, like an overspending spoilt child would be. Just give them more public money.

Blooming heck, I can only dream of insurance to be in that range!

I'm 26, come Feb 2013 I'll have 2 year NCB. My last renewal cost me £720 with my clio, then a £120 savings when I got my iQ in June.

I'm hoping it's sub £400 on my renewal... I'm with Insure, Compare sites gave that as the cheapest fully comp, including work commute, parked in drive, home in Pontefract.

Insurance is a funny thing. Its risk assessment ( a gamble). (A bet). So they take oodles of money off people and invest your money. Then there is a major disaster and they have to Shell out. Then they put the premiums up because they had to pay out. Well the way i see it is, you took a bet that nothing would happen based on the law of averages and probability factors and you lost. Hard luck!! Fold the company!! If i had a £10 bet with you and you won and i lost and had nothing , i wouldnt be saying to you, give me a £1 so i can bet with you again.

Insurance is such a big rip off There must be lots and lots of money to be made from it. I went into Argos yesterday and bought a clock for £12.95. The lady offered me insurance on it for £3.58. Whats that about when its essentially a throw away item.

I take it that in 3 years of them being on UK roads,

there is a low incident of claims for accidents & theft of or from iQ's.

& propably if any are involved in an accident the costs of repair are pretty low.

All car insurance has not been rising this year, sometimes the excess is increased tho.

You need to look close to see how much the cover offered is 'like for like'.

If the iQ is becoming considered as a Lower risk than they allready were, thats a very good thing.

Sorry Bob, I don't know him though I have had a couple of red two seater kit cars of my own over the years! Everyone was building them in the 80s it seems.Good old Ford Escort donors.

E types are very rare up here so I expect if I see one it will be him, although the part of Fife I live in is quite populous.

£149 a year here, although that's with £40 cashback (original quote £189) 34 years old.

Sorry John, His name is Ian Anderson. I phoned my Dad as I was pulling my hair out trying to remember his last name, and where he is from. Ian lives up in Banf, not Fife, and it's another bloke I was thinking about that's from Fife, Jimmy McAdam. He was in the RAF with my Dad as well as Ian Anderson and I think they used to call Jimmy 'Tarmac,' for obvious reasons.

My memory isn't so good any more.

Over the years I have worked with lot's of Scot's, in the RAF and at British Aerospace. A great friend of mine, Jimmy Baxter, from Glasgow is a right character.

The iQ2 is a second car for me, being my commuter car into the city. My other car is a diesel Seat Leon that's modified some what, this costs me £400ish per year with over 9 years no claims protected and a Londonish postcode. My iQ is just about to come up for renewal, but last year they so-called mirrored my insurance to 9 years on it. Still came in at over £450, fingers crossed it's going down this year a fair bit!

Sadly they are 'going' to look into the whole insurance rip-off industry, but it wont change anytime soon.

Had my phone around and got the price down to £400 with the addition of the lowering springs (to be fitted soon). Have to say that dealing with Adrian Flux was long winded and they went from the £510 to £430 in the blink of an eye, but thought I'd try Sky insurance and they came in with the £400 straight off. So big thanks to Sam and the team of Sky, one to be recommended.
