Location Of The Camshaft Position Sensor - 2.0Td

Hi all,

Been having a problem recently with an intermittent engine light, the code for which comes back as the camshaft position sensor. I want to check it over, check the plug, dodgy wiring etc which is not the problem - the hard bit seems to be actually locating the sensor itself in the engine bay!

I can find plenty of diagrams showing the location on a petrol engine, and I can find photographs of a new sensor so I have a vague idea of what I'm looking for. I expected it to be around the cylinder head area, or near the timing pulley perhaps but can't see it anywhere, even elsewhere.

Has anyone ever replaced one of these on the 2.0TD engine and could point me in the direction of where it's hiding please?
