Stalling/cutting Out At The Lights

Ok, bit of info first to help out >

The engine light had been on for a while but the car drove fine and passed the MOT before it was taken off the road. When i drove it to the MOT station (after it had been off the road for a few months) it ran smooth but the revs dropped at every light/junction and she stalled.

i am trying to get her back on the road, so have just replaced the sensor (with a genuine part) to fix error p1135. this has put the engine light out and my cheap code reader now shows no fault codes, but she still stalls as you pull up :( she starts straight back up and runs smooth but doesnt seem able to keep the revs high enough not to stall.

when you catch it before it stalls and give it a blip of the throttle it sometimes will then hold the revs enough not to stall.

i need to get some fresh petrol in her as it must be 12 months old at the very least ? could this have anything to do with the stalling ???

(just to make sure it has nothing to do with the stalling please check out my other post showing a piece of metal we found under the car when it was moved, i hope it hasnt got anything to do with the stalling but you never know ?? )

So any ideas or advice on what to do next please ? Thanks :)

WE might be able to identify that part with the part number. Make sure you use branded fuel when you top up. Old petrol can cause problems. I think I would be looking at cleaning the MAF sensor in the air intake. You can do it with carb cleaner or brake cleaner but don't soak it, just wash it off.

Before you do anything, get it idling and spray some WD40 around the inlet manifold and all round the inlet pipes. If it revs up it is leaking air and needs to be stopped. It could be that a rubber pipe has cracked with age.

The petrol Rav does this if the Battery has been disconnected but in my experience it goes away after a day or so of mixed running.

If the Battery has been disconnected, give it a while, mine took a good 50 miles to get back to normal
