Correct Oil/oil Change

Hi

Having owned a Corolla 1.4 D4D some years ago and several cars since I'm pleased that I am getting an 07 plate 2.0 D4D Colour Collection on Saturday. It felt like coming home when I got in it, 42k miles and FSH so am happy.

I popped into the dealers today for a couple of bits for it and asked them about the correct grade of oil - was told its 5W/30. However having double checked on the Castrol website it's telling me either that or 0w/30. Halfords give me all manner of different options including 10w/40 - which one is right?

Also is it easy enough to change the oil filter on these as I'm not sure which engine variant it is? Are the filters the old cartridge type screw on ones or the paper element type?

Thanks in advance. Can't wait to get it.

The correct grade is 5w 30 semi synthetic, any good proprietary brand will do, Toyota market their own through your local dealer, or Opie Oils on this website

The oil filter is a cartridge type

Good luck with your new purchase, enjoy it

Thanks both. I was planning to use the oil suggested by the Castrol website which was 5w/30 a1 Magnatec but then spotted that the Opie Oils site recommends 10w/40 as does Mobil......which am surprised about as my local dealer tried to flog me some Mobil 5w/30 on Saturday.....

I kinda trust the Castrol site really but just wondered if their 5w/30 A1 is actually ok as it's badged as being for Ford cars??

What do other Corolla drivers tend to use?

Thanks again.
