De-Tuning The Euro 5 Engine

Hello All

I wish to export a new Toyota Hilux to Kenya. The car has the lates Euro 5 engine to run on low-sulpher diesel. Kenya does not produce this high quaility diesel. Can the engine be de-tuned? I have seen it done to an Audi Q7. The technician used a laptop to plug into the engine management system and took about five minutes. Be very grateful for any advice here

Regards

I think it will work on bad old diesel without modification (High sulphur diesel is actually better for some engines, esp. older ones, as the sulphur is a good lubricant for the injectors) but I do know it will destroy the catalyst so emissions will go through the roof. They probably don't care about that kind of thing in Kenya, although your lungs might .

(Don't take my word for it tho'... I have no qualifications at all regarding anything car related!)
