1.8 Gxi

hi im thinking about buying a corolla 1.8gxi wot are they like? are they fast? are they single cam or twin cam eingines?

Had a 1.8 GXi about a couple of years ago (i upgraded from my ae92) but to be honest i didnt like them one bit.....

i felt it was rather sluggish compared to my corolla gti - but it was ever so smooth... but arent they all :D

it is a twin cam 16v engine - but a lot heavier than the corolla gti.....

but nice cars none the less......

I had a 94 GXI 1.8.

Yes it may not have felt as fast as the older GTI, but I loved it

It was quick enough for me, very smooth, solid interior and was great on fuel. I now have a later corolla (AE111 G6R) and I dont feel as if it is as well built.

The GXI in my opinion found the right match between quality and grunt. Loads of spec with discs all around, abs, pas, air con, etc etc

Go for it If you want more power add some mods
