Hi Guys,

I am interested in being able to carry out more servicing at home on my '99 1.3 SE. What can anyone tell me about OBD? Notice I said service and not tuning! I would like to be able to plug the car in to a laptop and know how its set up. Is it possible? Am I OBD-11? And is this Toyota on ISO protocol. Even when I am plugged in will it be possible to interpret the data and find out what to adjust / set it to.

Should I buy one of the interfaces advertised on this very site, is it scan tool?

Related to this, is the OBD port where things like the ignition timing are set or is there an old fashioned way of doing this?
