2001 Yaris Ignition Problems

Recently the ignition on my 2001 Yaris has become hard to turn leading to me cracking the plasic on one key. It still works, but I need to jiggle the key a bit to get it to turn, rather than use much force. I've tried with a spare key, & has similar problems, which suggests the problem is in the ignition slot rather then the main key getting worn. I'm wondering if I need to go to a Toyota dealer to sort things, or will an indepentant workshop be able to fix it.
