Hi all

Car is Avensis estate 1.8i 2006 plate and coming up to its 60,000 mile service. It has developed an annoying fast ticking sound when being driven which disappears when the clutch is depressed to change gear only for this sound to resume again after the gear is engaged!

I can't say its a definate knocking sound and I did think is there a leaf in the fan (Its that sort of noise! )but its loud enough to pick out over a loud stereo!!

Its only apparant when the car is being driven and NOT when the engine is idling.

Any advice is most appreciated

Ivan

i had a rumbling noise that went when you depressed clutch and it turned out to be the gearbox bearing between 4th and 5th.car only done 63000 on a 08 plate.car brought from carcraft and they refused to do the work so it cast me just over a grand at toyota dealer.

Just had the car serviced and MOT'd by somone I trust and SNAP! , The gearbox needs its bearing,s AND clutch replacing at a similar cost as well !

First car I,ve ever had in 30 years to require such a repair.

Well annoyed !!
