Thats a rotten thing to happen to you anytime but 10 days is terrible.

best get a quote at your dealers and then shop around for cheaper one. maybe dealer will meet the price.

Gutted for you, I know how you feel. Same think happened to me at work http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=138450&hl=gutted

I wouldn't bother with main dealer as most of the don't seem to have there own bodyshops any more. They will quote you and take it to a local bodyshop and probably put something on the price for there trouble, so you might as well cut out the middle man and go straight to a good local shop yourself.

Mine cost me about £150, but I already had the paint leftover from having the roof spoiler painted.

very similar to what my neighbour did to mine , chips away sorted the corner and resparayed half the bumper for 150. did the scratch across the bonnet for 140 , i got the scratches out the side with some scratch remover (twice), and they've quoted £420 to respray the passenger door and rear quarter where he had a go on my RAV.

nice neighbour, i got rid of him eventually.

Thanks everyone for the advice :D

the old person (very old person 85+) who did this has offered to pay for repairs, got a quote from local toyota for £120

Get the money first before having reps done. Got promises twice from people who said they would pay for damage they caused. But once away from the scene they have a change of mind.

I think Tony was ripped off by Chips away, paying seperatly for each scratch.

Had simular marks on my Mondeo and a local specialist did both including 3 chips for 110 pound.

Did a perfect job.

Sorry to see that.

I am a spray painter, but personally if it was mine i would think twice about repairing and painting and i would put 'Corner Protectors' in the Rear or Rear and front Insert Areas.

Trying to find them but failing on a very slow connection.

old link came up tho.

This illustration is a Body Kit and not just the inserts, might give you the idea of what i was looking for.

but someone used to Advertise Corner Protectors that fitted the iQ,

anyone got an idea where or from whom?

(again personally i would probably use Thicker Motor Bike tank Protector Film and make my own inserts.

heat and shape, trim neatly then fit.)

sorry i should explain.it was several instances over several months and i only found out who it was by

a) he hit the iq while i was actually stood on the pavement next to it

B) installed cctv and worked out who and why it was happening

c) found out he was on canabis

i couldn't positively prove it to the police , and it took getting on for 9 months to get him evicted

he dosen't what me round his house and offered to meet in a car park !!!

I think I'm gonna put this one down to experiance an just pay myself...i just want my new car back how it was... what an old git

On a positive note i think the police paid a visit and revoked his license.......

Send him the bill include a letter saying if its not settled in one week then he get the bill again via you solicitor and he will have to pay his fees as well. Dont just let him get away with it.

You shouldnt have to pay up front on the hope of getting paid out. If the police revoked his license then he wont be mobile and not be able to meet you for you too show him the repair, as he doesnt want you round his house. I'm with Acetip on this one

If you know where he lives, i would hand post ( out of hours),communications so he knows you know where he lives. And so that he knows he isn't so anonymous

If you don't Know where he lives (no address given) then in my book a phone number is not good enough means of communication.I would contact the police and register it as a hit and run using just his Reg number. There is no way you should be travelling around at your cost meeting him. Do you have his insurance details?

oh no, dont use chips away, no paint applied on a driveway will ever stay looking good!!!if you unbolted the bumper the you could probably use a heat gun,(or a lot of hairdryers-about 5-worked as a quick fix when my bumper was bent out at a 90 degree angle!!) to get the dent out, see if there's a fix auto garage near you instead, my experience of them is very positive, will beat chips away hands down!
