Hi all,

I may be looking at buying a Avensis 2.0 D-4D T SPIRIT around 2003/2004 age in the near future and was wondering if there were anything I should be looking out for specifically for this model and age? Also are there any common faults or problems with Avensis to you have come across?

Any info is appreciated

Scott

What kind of mileage? budget? hatchback/saloon?

Make sure its been well looked after ie serviced every 10,000 miles.

Check the reg in the recall checker has been a few recalls lately.

headlight bulb holders melt. full headlights need to replaced

Make sure sat nav works and theres a disc in the unit under the passenger seat,

more than one key. as not cheap to replace.

no rattles when engine running.

make sure aircon works as these can be bypassed by fitting a shorter belt due to faulty aircon compressor.

it pulls nicely in all gears and there's no hesitation and goes passed 3,000rpm with out hesitation.

check if the spare wheel is there and there is no water under it.

clutch is slightly heavy as standard but if its really heavy, clutch master cylinder will need replacing.(120) just had mine done.

any vibrations on idle or setting off maybe due to flywheel, got a quote from toyota about £800 without clutch kit that was (£200).

If I think of anything else I will add.

click on the link below. it will show you whats included in the trim levels.

make sure its had timing belt and water pump changes depending on mileage should be done every 60 thousand, ask for proof.

this may help as-well.
