If you put thicker Oil in an engine, when cold you'll get more engine wear, so it would be the same with a gearbox, thicker Oil takes longer to warm up, so more wear on the gearbox internals.

I don't know why but Gen 7's usually prefer Red Line MT-90, just from what I've read over the years
