How To Make A Good Performer? 20r

I am gonig to get a 1979 Toyota Pickup from my Grandma. It has the 20R motor in it. There are only 79000 miles on the truck. I would Like to get some more power out of the truck as well as maintining, or increasing fuel economy. Does anyone know of anything that will work? What would a cam do for me?
