Dodgy Reverse Gear!

Hiya, my toyota Aygo Fire 12' plate seems to have a funny reverse gear problem- it pops out sometimes, and often won't go into gear at all, even after lifting the clutch up and depressing it again :( (ie trying to go backwards, 'putting it in reverse' and then the car doesnt go anywhere)- just wondered if anyones had a similar issue with the later Aygos?

Thanks :D

One for your dealer to sort out.

I haven't experienced that particular problem but I do know that the gear shift linkages are by cables which can be adjusted. As your car is relatively new it might well be a question of a bit of cable stretch which can easily be adjusted out. The correct setting is vital for smooth shift changes so even a small amount of mis-adjustment could cause a problem.

Anyway, I suspect that it will be an easy fix for your dealer.

Odd you say that; for a while I've considered my 4K mile '12 plate ICE to have an agricultural gearbox arrangement. I have the first service in a couple of months so I'll get mine checked as well.
