6 Speed Gearbox Question

Hi folks,

Getting used to my Toyota now but I have one nagging question regarding the gearbox in my car.

My car is a 1.6 petrol with a 6 speed gearbox.

Now when I set off in 1st gear it sounds like the gears are straight cut (like reverse), ie there is a distinct whine, which remains if I dip the clutch. What I am trying to say is that 1st appears to sound like reverse!. This sound immediately disappears when I change to second gear and beyond, I dont have any other issues, the gearchange is a bit clunky but nothing crunches.

Can anyone give me feedback on their 6 speed box before I return my car to the main agent.

My 2.2 D4D model is exactly the same. Never been a problem.
