2011 Toyota Verso Fuel Gauge?

Hi everyone. Have recently bought a 2011 Verso 2.0D. Can any one tell me if there should be a low fuel level warning? The bar gauge was not flashing or no warning sound made when I noticed it had 1 bar left on gauge and a range of 6 miles left! This surely can't be right? Thanks Jon

The range is not a count down to empty, there is a "reserve" in the tank, once the range reads 0 the last fuel bar will then flash, I believe " Low fuel" appears on the multi display.
