Nasty Juddering When Pulling Off! :(

Hey guys, new to the forums and a new Celica gen 7 owner, so hello to all fellow Celica owners! Had my 99 plate Celica just for a week now but I've noticed when I've been driving for 30-45 mins, if I stop at a junction or roundabout etc when I pull off in 1st gear I get an horrific, violent judder for a short period of time, maybe just like a second or so. Not felt or seen anything like this on previous cars I've owned and just wondered if anyone has had similar issues or have any idea what may cause this.

Not looking forward to huge repair bills when I've only had the car such a short time :(

Thanks in advance of any advise.

I get something similar occasionally, but I've found it is usually only first thing after setting off - i.e. when it is stone cold.

I believe it is clutch shudder, and when warmed up it goes away (for me anyway).

  • 3 weeks later...

Had the same 'issue' with mine for the first week or so i had my Gen 7..................

Turned out it was me not balancing the clutch/throttle properly for this car (not used to it). Started to stick another....300?, 400? rpm across the clutch when pulling away in first gear.........problem instantly disappeared...........
