can anyone can tell me how can I reset mi SRS light? I had make a jump in the OBD conector between the TC and the CG pins and it reports an 72 fault code. i think its a problem with de passenger seatbelt pretenssor. I cleaned the conector nearby the passanger seatbealt, but i dont know how to reset the SRS light.

Thanks in advance,

Daniel.

The SRS light only resets goes out once the fault has been fixed. The code will still be stored until the Battery has been disconnected.

So if the SRS light still comes on after you cleaned the connection, then something else is wrong.

Konrad thaks for you comment. I already checked the connector thats it located at the passanger seatbelt base. It´s a yellow plug with two cables. I have cleaned it very carefully. When I measure it with the tester it´s ok.

The only possibilities is that the fault code 7-2 correspond to another problem. Do you have the list of fault code for the Avensis T25?

Thanks,

Daniel

Sorry Daniel,

I don't have the codes list to know what code 72 is for T25

You will need a code reader.

Hello,

Here is a list of airbag codes

12=Low Battery Voltage
13=Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Ground
14=Primary Crash Sensor Circuit Shorted to Ground
21=Safing Sensor Not Mounted to Vehicle Properly
22=Safing Sensor Output Shorted to Battery Voltage
23=Safing Sensor Circuit Input Feed/Return Circuit Open
24=Safing Sensor Output Feed/Return Circuit Open
32 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit High Resistance or Open
33 Passenger Side Air Bag Circuit High Resistance or Open
34=Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Low Resistance or Shorted
35=Passenger Side Air Bag Circuit Low Resistance or Shorted
41=RH Primary Crash Sensor Feed/Return Circuit Open
42=LH Primary Crash Sensor Feed/Return Circuit Open
44=RH Primary Crash Sensor Not Mounted to Vehicle Properly
45=LH Primary Crash Sensor Not Mounted to Vehicle Properly
51=Air Bag Diagnostic Monitor Internal Thermal FuseFuse Blown Due to Intermittent Short to Ground
52=Backup Power SupplyVoltage Boost Fault
53=Primary Crash Sensor Circuits Resistance to Ground or Air Bag Diagnostic Fault

And attached is a list of Toyota fault codes,

also remember that a normal fault code reader only reads engine codes not air bags.

You could always try disconnecting both Battery neg and pos leads from the battery, fasten them together away from the battery for a few minutes to discharge any capacitors in the ecu circuits then reconnect to see if the fault clears, if not then it's a hardware fault like the wiring or clock spring or even a fault in the control ecu either way it's a job for a specialist if the light won't go out.

Regards Pete.

Thanks Pete.

I did not have the SRS fault codes and searched without success.

Daniel quoted fault 72, which was not on the list you provided.

Hi guys thanks for your help. I am sure that the code is 7-2. Tonight I´m gonna record the signal and then hang it here.

I will try disconnecting positive and negative from the batery. Then i will proceed to fasten those terminals together in order to discharge the ECU capacitators. I had never done that, Is there any risk?

Regards,

Daniel

Hi guys, I proceeded to disconnect the Battery for 5 hours. The fault code it´s still there. In this page they say that code 72 is Relates to Passenger's seat belt pretensioner or circuit fault. (short):

http://codes.rennacs.com/FaultCodes.php?reference=TOYOTA-SRS-21&FaultCode=72&Description=%0D%0A&commonRepairs=

I dont know is this information is exact for my car. I have alreayd check all the conector and cable from this part, but everything sims correct. He is the capture of my panel with the flash light:

If a dont find the solution, the only thing left to do is to disconnect the light from the back of the instrument panel.

Hi Daniel,

disconnecting the light won't solve anything as this may put passengers/driver at risk in the event of an accident and it will also fail the MOT if the SRS light doesn't show then go out at the vehicles self test.

Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and PAY for your car to be repaired and I mean this in the nicest possible way mate, we can't always solve problems remotely on the forum.

Regards Pete.

Daniel,

I couldn't let this go, so I did a bit of searching and found a list with the following codes. These are generic to Toyota.

http://www.pdfio.com/k-3027024.html#

72 B0138 (Fault location) pyrotechnic pretensioner, LH - short circuit to positive

(Probable cause) Wiring, pyrotechnic pretensioner, SRS control module

I had to unjumble the description.

It seems to point to the left hand circuit.

Your search also confirmed this. ( I did not read your post properly until I had posted my response).

You will need re-check the wiring and maybe source a replacement module. You may need to get professional help.

Be careful with this system and like Pete says, don't cheat the system! I ranted on another post about this and the moderator agreed.

Hope you get this fixed.

Now with the codes that Konrad gave me I would try to find the problem at my seatbealt. At the beginning I thinked in the RH, because thats the passenger seat in my country, I will apreciate if anyone know the probable ubication of the problem.

In other subjects, whats that MOT means??

Thanks for you help, and sorry for my bad english!

Daniel,

I didn't realise that you were not in the UK so the MOT test (Ministry Of Transport) road worthy yearly inspection rules may not apply to you you :-), where do you live?

Great bit of info there Konrad and I hope it helps to solve Daniels problem.

Thanks Pete. I had to try and get more information because the SRS is important.

Like you I did not realise that Daniel was located outside the UK.

Daniel, as Pete has said, the MOT in the UK is the annual test for cars to make sure they are safe for the roads. The SRS system has been recently added to the test.

The reason why I mentioned about 'cheating the MOT', is that somebody had a problem with their SRS and somebody else mention an illegal way to fool the tester! I will not repeat that cheat.

Then the car could be sold on to an unsuspecting buyer, who would think the car was okay. Also in the invent of an accident where the airbags should go off, and the seat-belt pre-tensioner fire, the driver/passenger is at a greater risk than if the system was fine. Insurance may be invalid too!

I hope you resolve this problem soon.

Konrad

Hi, I´m from Lima, Perú. In my country the anual inspection has been established 3 years ago and it´s very basic, It´s almost impossible that one day they will have scanner.

You would laught if you see the kind of tests they do to our cars. Frankly it´s just a trick to make and aditional income.

Like I said in mi other post, I supposed that this problem is very common in this model, so I will appreciate If some tell me how to solve it.

Here in Lima, even the official representatives doesnt have the capacity to solve this kinds if problem. And If they do the will charge you with a lot of US$.

Hi Daniel. South America.

Every country has their own test rules and regulations, some do not even have any test at all!

The problem happens to any car make or model.
