What's This Brown Clutted Fluid On My Rim?

Hi guys!

Hope you can help me out a bit. (Sorry for my English - I'm a Dane :D)

I've borrowed my uncles Toyota Aygo "Spice" (brown/orange car), while I'm searching for a new car myself.

I think the car is from 2012 (only 15.000km) or so, so it's pretty new, but here's the problem:

The car has alu-rims, and there's this sort of brown fluid spread out in the spaces between the pattern of the rim. Yesterday I scrubbed

the wheels while washing the car and this afternoon, after work, the brown clutted fluid is back. It's been raining all day, and this fluid

doesn't seem to come off easily - I washed the car with a pressure washer, and even the pressure wasn't enough, I had to scrub it off.

Have you guys seen anything like this before? I'm thinking breaking fluid? -It's only on the left front wheel btw!

(see attached photo - the brown fluid is sadly not as visible on a freshly washed rim)

Thanks!

-Christian.

if it is fluid then the only fluid in that area is the brake fluid but i would be surprised if the fluid has gone so dark in colour in such a short time it should stil be relatively clear in colour,i would take it back to your dealer let them sort it out under warranty and also get them to sort the alloy wheel out as a warranty issue has damaged the paint

Brake pad/disc dust plus water?

If it is then as it's only on front left that might indicate that brake isn't releasing properly - you'd have higher wear rate on that side.

If it is brake fluid then you will probably see the level drop in the reservoir, possibly to dangerous levels.

if the fluid level has reached a low level then you should get a warning light on the dashboard, dont be alarmed if your brake fluid is just a little under the max as this is normal as the brake pads and shoes wear the level will drop but it shouldn't be near the min level or below it.to get the stains off use a good quality wheel cleaner and use a brush (toothbrush) to loosen the staining then wash off wheel with water

It looks almost like rust coloured. I would doubt it was brake fluid, but I would remove the wheel and have a good look around

They dont look like original wheels either judging the centre caps, are they MOMO wheels?

Kingo

Remove the wheel and check where it is coming from.
