Hi Guys,

Looking to buy a 4x4 on a budget... so I've been drawn into the 2.4td 2nd Gen Surf.

Its obviously cheap for a reason... and the horror stories about the cylinder head are well known. But with experience, is it a bad truck once this has been fixed? <- Main Question.

All of them I'm looking at seem to have the work done. It will be used in support of Scottish mountaineering, not necessarily extreme off road but I need the confidence it will be able to handle at least a mountain track. What's your opinions?
