Immobilizer/ Transponder Key Issues 98 Corolla

hey guys

wondering if i could get some help with an issue i am having with my 1.3 (3 door hatchback) '98 corolla.

first of all went for the NCT and passed.

car got delivered back and he parked it up and gave me the keys back.

I finished work 6 hours later and all i got was not firing and failed to start.

took it to 2 mechanics and had it checked over and they pronounced it was an immobilizer issue.

they cost was €800 for a new immobilizer unit plus 2 keys

he would not say if it was the key that was the fault but the issue there is i cannot take it to a main dealer for a new key as i cannot start the car and live 120 miles away from the nearest main dealer.

is there a way i can personally prove that its the whole immobilizer or the key.

is the main question.

secondly can the immobilizer be deactivated so i can get it to the main dealer.
