I had a similar thing happen to me and my ex!... I bought an Audi A6 3.2 Quattro that was registered and insured in my name (I even paid for all the V-Power fuel for her) and she was a named driver. We split soon after our baby was born and she wouldn't give me the car back! Her solicitor father said he'd tie me up in knots for months!... So I went round there with a baseball bat and smashed the f4ck out of MY car!!!... That showed her the little bu@@er...

If YOU bought it then its your's... I'd worry about the boys in blue later!... But that's just me

If I can't have whats mine! Then she ain't either... Hope all goes well for you pal :drunk:

Should you lock the steering wheel, be prepared for totally accidental criminal damage happening to the periphery of said locking device whilst two gorillas remove and/or saw through it, further reducing its commercial value.

Halfords......tyre valve removal tool.....I ask again......who owns the air in the tyres.....? No valves a lot more inconvenient than an hour with a footpump......

Remove tax disc also under the pretext of your intention to declare it as VOR.........walk away and leave her with it my far king bum.......!!! Declare as VOR immediately or any fines for no tax disc come back to......the name on the V5.....the vehicle's owner. Then when the uninterested police ask why is it parked on a road somewhere.......she drove it off without permission, and you didn't want to cause her any embarrassment by reporting it.....

Bad Kev

Why are you angry with the police? You have fallen out with your ex. You are both grown ups so sort it out between yourselves.

If you give her fair warning, be prepared that she will hide it. Otherwise, go and take back your car - bring a witness.

Or borrow Mike McCummo's company car in his avatar and drive it over the Rav..........I would rather lose MY £1000.00 that way than let some nutter "legally steal" it !!!

You may ask.......who cattled my rage.....? THIEVES........

 I like your style, we have similar tastes

No way is Plod going to get involved, I would think the chance of you getting in hot water would be minimal, but do take sensible precautions..................keep your baseball bat out of sight

Having worked in the motor trade all my life, we are always having gear nicked, when we have given Plod the names of culprits very little action is taken,

Your only problem is you gave her permission to use the car

Kingo

I think that fire has to be meet with fire sometimes :gun_bandana: But as my mate says, make sure that you hide the bat down your trousers! or she'll just think you're just pleased to see her again! :spiteful::jawdrop:

Don't get me wrong, if the circumstancs were right and she was in no doubt that she was borrowing my car I would go and get it. However, if I had given her the impression it was a gift then I wouldn't be spiteful enough to go and steal it back.

Why has she got both sets of master keys? I would want to talk to her before I support somebody doing this regardless of the name on the V5. If it is so obvious, why won't she just hand it back? Does the OP neen this car ot is it just devilment? Does the OP have another car?

Too much we don't know for my liking.

how strange how this post has attracted so much interest ? My initial question was would the grey key work and yet everyone seem to be interested in the moral dilemma. As it happens yes she does need the car and I did offer to sell it to her on a cheap monthly basis ( £50.00 ) but she took it on herself guided by her all single friends to actually nick the car. She is getting advice from all over the place not to give the car up. I have my own car and really do not need it but there again I am not fabulously wealthy to throw a grand in the bin. She moved back to London because she was unable to secure a job down here in Dorset and indeed I was sorry to see he go but totally understood why she left. However it is still my flipping car and I want either the car back or the money its as simple as that

cheers

I honestly think its less agg to just write the thing off and move on.. There is it seems some acrimony and as Don has said and I say it again we only have one side of the story not that I am the tiniest bit interested in either side...

I have seen these silly things escalate into far more than the silly things arguments start over.. It become He/She said or did that and of course personal feelings run high and things get out of hand sometimes very fast..

Its your call I couldn't give a monkeys to be honest And I only gave my opinion as I don't want to see you on here in a week or tow telling us what hot water you are in with Plod or needing solicitors to sort it out..

Whether the key will fit or not I havent a clue.. Its the intent that makes people reply as we have.. Believe it or not we are trying to help not interfere.. This is after all an internet forum so opinions will be forthcoming warts and all..

It takes a bigger man to walk away without looking back.. So are you man enough ?

It would be a real shame if she got up one morning and found someone had stuck a Stanley knife through each tyre.

I once resorted to that when someone reversed into my newly re-sprayed Ford Escort many years ago outside a pub, when I confronted the prat he told me to F off and drove away leaving me with a badly damaged car.

I popped down to the same pub a week later and guess whose car was parked there, I took great delight in knifing all four tyres.

I had never done anything like that before, and never have since, but sometimes it's the only language they understand.

The grey key should work but, as I can't resist chipping in either!..

I'd just sign over the V5 and leave it be. Especially if there's no reason to get back at her. Of course, it's easy for me to say - not my car or ex! But on the face of it that's probably the best outcome. You might regret any other action later on.

Tell her she can have a grey key when she has finished coughing up.

Nicer outcome than the Great RAV Robbery ;-)

Phew, I was having bad dreams about a perfectly nice Rav being hurt. It's always the "children" that suffer in these break ups!

Maybe she has been reading about what you and others have been threatening to do on this OPEN PUBLIC FORUM :(

I really cannot believe the lengths that some of the "Keyboard Warriors" on here have threatened and encouraged you to go to!

Hope that things work out to a mutually satisfactory conclusion for both parties :)

Im trying to work out who was the biggest clown.. Mate whose car you knifed or you for knifing it.... Two wrongs make a right then... It could have just been more sensible to report it to the police instead of taking the law into your own hands ? If someone told me to "F" off I would have wanted to sort him out but what you did with respect was just silly at best and cowardly in reality.. Did you stop for one minute to think it may not have been his car ??

Charlie

This was 40 years ago when I was 17 years old, I like to think I am a bit older and wiser now, but at the time it seemed like the only option.

I am sure the police would have been a big help as it was in a pub car park.

And yes I am sure it was his car. He was a well known local bully, him and his gang of cronies would have probably made my life a misery if I had pursued him through the legal system. So it was an eye for an eye.

I wouldn't dream of doing anything like that now, but it cost me a few weeks hard earned wages to put my own car right again, and I don't regret my course of action from all those years ago, things were different then. With hindsight my car repairs cost me a lot more that his four tyres would have done.

What I do regret is posting a reference to it on here and hinting that it would be a suitable thing to do in this case, that was silly and I apologise for that.
