Hi

Son is hot to buy one of these so I said I would go with him to have a look.

Imported so not familiar with these.

Is there a Uk equivalent model?

Are there any particular things to look out for.

Yes I appreciate it is an old car.

thanks

One for the Lexus forums the Uk equivalent is the 1998 ~ 2005 Lexus IS200 just watch as the UK car has either a 2.0 or 3.0 6 cylinder the Altezza had either the 2.0 6 cylinder or a 2.0 4 cylinder "beams" engine which is similar to an old MR2 with a lot a additions this has no direct UK equivalent.

The closest relative model is the Lexus IS200. The car was sold as the Toyota Altezza from 1998 and the Lexus from 1999. The Altezza ceased to be with the introduction of the second generation IS and the launch of the Lexus brand in Japan in 2006.

Thanks for info-what is a "beams" engine?

Um, just wondering if you have run the car through any insurance sites yet? It might be an unpleasant surprise if it isn't a standard UK model due to the complexity of sourcing parts for repairs etc.

I was thinking about buying one of these a few years ago. Although they look better on the outside I didn't like the cloth interior on the model I looked at. Also I was worried it may have an odd part that's different to the UK spec and it would be a nightmare sourcing it.

Hi,

If he needs any help with insurance please feel free to drop me a line. We have a number of specialist schemes for imported vehicles.

Regards,

Dan.
