Toyota Iq Brakes

Hi everyone I need some information please. My fiances iq needs new rear discs and pads as they are getting very corroded and make a terrible noise while driving. Anyway does anyone know how the pistons go back into the caliper, do they just push in or screw.

If they screw, what direction and what tool do I need?

Thanks in advance

Standard hydraulic disc brakes, They should just push back into the calliper but you may need a lever or a big pair of pipe grips to assist.

If you degrease and paint the centre and the edges of the new discs before fitting they should last a lot longer and look nicer through the wheels. :)

Well, I have taken the pads out my callipers before and I'm utterly convinced I simply pushed the piston back into the calliper body. Just been looking at the service manual though and that mentions a tool to align the piston?

I can't quite see what they are doing here unless the pad aligns with a slot in the piston?

Sorry to cast doubt on this. :)

That question is needing some thinking about.

Which Aygo from 2005 on 1.0 or 1.4 Front Discs can be 247mm....

rears ? Drum Brakes.

iQ, 2009 on,

1.0 or 1.3 Front discs can be 255 mm vented

Rear 259mm Solid.

So are we looking at rear discs on a Aygo compared to a iQ?

Order by VIN or engine serial number when buying Brake Parts

http://www.livingstonautoparts.co.uk

easy for comparing parts specifications, sizes, diameter, thickness etc.

Hey Craggle,

Thanks for this good information.

Can I ask where to get this detailed info of the iQ?

I have a CD with info of the iQ, but not this detailed, or do I not read this CD right?

The CD does not autorun and it uses Firefox to have you to read it.

PS.. Sorry to say, but due to computer SSD breakdown, I have no info who sent me this iQ CD...

Or is there a secret website?

Greetz,

Peter

PS Found it... At Toyota Tech Data....

Hi Peter

I bought the CD from a member here. I then copied the entire contents to my computer drive and made a shortcut on the desktop to the start up file. It opens in Google Chrome as that is my default browser.

Very useful CD and has saved me a few times now. :)

Craig.
