Heater On Permanently

Hi, during a chilly evening a week or so ago I put my heater on for the first time in months, but now it still seems to be blowing out hot air even when the fan is switched to off - and even if the selector is on cold and whatever direction the other slider is on.

Can anybody give me a clue as to how to fix this please?
