Seanomurray 0
Hi all,I have a 2000 1.4 corolla saloon.I recently changed the engine as the old one was gone.Had it running really well until suddenly it went really lumpy on idle.Sometimes when it warms up it's ok but ticks over at 1500rpm!! Great pull through the gears despite this problem!Tried putting the throttle body off the old engine on it to try it and made no improvement!Really Irritated by it now!!Any suggestions?Regards,Sean
oldcodger 336
Hi,A possible cause, assuming the Battery has been disconnect it can take about 30 mins of driving before the ECU re-learns the right values for tickover, until then its all over the place. Seanomurray 0
Hi, Thanks for you're reply.I solved the problem by plugging in a cheap diagnostics reader i got off ebay for a tenner.Turned out to be the cam position sensor. When sensor was replaced the car is perfect.
