Hi all

Could you please help me, I have an 2013 Auris Icon 1.4D and when I am driving the stop & start system doesn't seem to work

I am not driving with the air condition on, or even with the system set to auto, neither is the rear demister switched on

And the stop & start has not been disabled

Any ideas on what I need to do?

Regards

Ian

IIRC there are a bunch of conditions which must be met (e.g. engine temp, ambient temp, Battery level?) before the start-stop system cuts in so it may be something to do with that.

I do know that as the weather gets colder, the start-stop system becomes less and less likely to kick in as we've had a few people complain that it basically doesn't do anything in the winter.

I'm on my second Auris with Stop/Start.

The system will operate when the engine is adequately warmed up, the Battery is sufficiently charged and the driver's door/bonnet are closed.

Things which can affect the operation of Stop/Start are:

* engine coolant temperature is extremely high

* the air con is being used when the interior is extremely hot (ie after being parked in the sun)

* the air con is being used when the outside temperature is 8 degrees centigrade or lower

* for vehicles with climate control - the windscreen demister is being used

* the Battery is not sufficiently charged

* due to traffic or other circumstances, the vehicle is stopped repeatedly, resulting in the amount of time the engine is stopped by the Stop/Start system becoming excessively high.

So there are a few circumstances (some quite common) where Stop/Start won't work.

If you still have doubts, go back to your dealer and ask them to check it.

Thank you both for your replies

Since I've had the car at the beginning of September it's only worked twice, I haven't used the air con since I brought the car

On my commute to work I use a motorway, so it gets a good charge from being on there

Lets hope it starts working soon, if not I will be taking it to be checked over

Thank again

Ian
