Tuppeny Ha'penny Repair But Not Impressed

Hi Colin, and welcome aboard.......could not help but smile out loud when I read that "the Rav was brilliant compared to the Picasso"

The only Picasso better than a Rav is the one found in that flat with 1400 wee pictures t'other day !!!

It is unfotunately true though that some can buzz, rattle, and groan.....even much more recent ones than yours. IMHO, it is more a case of the materials employed rather than the build quality that aggravates these situations.

I have had Toyotas since 1986 when I bought a GT Corolla, it was a superb little car which would catch pigeons. Since then I have had a MR2 MK1, a couple of Landcruisers, two Hi-Lux, five Rav4's and five Yaris, we currently have a Rav and two Yaris. All were maintained to schedule.

Hand on heart I can honestly say that not one of the above has ever let me or any of the family down, THE Hi-Lux in particular were bomb proof, I recall one covered 80k plus miles in 3 years and had a hard life indeed, it never missed a beat. I once towed a JCB with it. We have a three year old Yaris with 63k miles on the clock, not one creak, squeak or groan to be heard. I have no worries about Toyotas engineering or build quality.

Welcome to the forum Colin :)

Thanks to all for your comments and welcome messages, I feel I should mention that for all its little foibles, the Rav has done me proud over the last few months, especially travelling to Middlesborough hospital on a regular basis, in under two hours and still returning well over 45mpg. The only time I'll be changing it will be for another one, so I'll just keep doing the lottery.

Thanks all

Colin
