Rav4 Satnav And Audio Dead

Hi,

I own a 2007 Rav4 XT5 with the B9004 satnav/audio unit. Power has failed to the unit (fuse is ok), as there is no display or sound.

I've been reading some topics from a couple of years ago.....there were some really useful and interesting contributions from "anchorman" and "dhcm" I think.

Just wondering if there are any further ideas on this subject please?

Is the best way forward to remove the unit and send it to a car audio repairer (I note that Maple Audio were suggested at the time?)

Or is there an electronics guru out there who I can send it to for repair and reward?

Update on my B9004 sat/nav troubles.

It all started erly november, suddenly no radio/sat/nav (total power loss). I checked the fuse (20A) and the wiring loom but stil no power on the connector that goes into the unit.

The dealer had a look and checked everyting and came to the same conclusion: wiring fault.

This afternoon I installed a fused (10A) wire directly from the Battery to the unit and a seperate ground wire. Double checked polarity everything was ok. Next step was to put the plug into the unit and within a minute the unit changed into a smoke generator! :mad2: :censor: .

I think what happend is: When the unit stopped working (unit fault) there was a current just under 20A which made an already bad connecting burn away. This afternoon I put some new wiring in place an now the current could flow without problem to the unit.

I know what's gonna be under the cristmas tree this year
