Aux Connection Not Working?

I've happily been utilising the Aux socket and a cable to play tunes from my ipod. But then it stopped working. I just get BTR no CONNECTION on the radio screen. I tried the manual without success. I've swapped the ipod for a more modern one and while the ipod itself plays audibly it will not play through the radio unit/ Speakers. Any suggestions anyone?

I'd be inclined to try another cable.
