According to this weeks Autocar, the new Mazda 3 Hybrid uses key components from the previous generation Prius. These include the continuously variable transmission and epicyclic gearset. The NIMH Battery is also bought from Toyota. The system has been recalibrated to work with Mazda's 2.0 litre SkyActiv engine.

So it isn't just BMW that is buying Toyota's hybrid technology.
