Mk2 Kangarooing When Cold & Faulty Guages

Hi everyone,

Just need a bit of tech help,

mk2 mr2 (1993) couple of faults I need to diagnose, one is when the car is cold it 'kangaroos' down the road and with hesitant throttle response. Quite fun but slightly concerning, I assume it's just a quirk of an old engine so I do let it warm up gently but would changing coilpacks/spark plugs/ HT leads help? I'm not sure if it's linked but I do seem to be using more fuel than average even with my eco brain engaged.

Second problem is with my fuel & temp guages. neither are at all accurate. the fuel guage never goes above a quarter of a tank even when the tank is full and the temp guage just meanders around cold to optimum regardless of how long I've been driving. I am clueless with electrics/sensors so any help here would be appreciated
