Auto Express Photoshoot Plea - 2Nd And 3Rd Gen Prius

Hi Folks,

I help research the buying guides for Auto Express magazine and one of the next ones I’ve been asked to do is on the Prius both 2nd and 3rd generations Therefore, I need to find non modified cars, which I can put into the studio to photograph for the piece.

Firstly the downside, due to the fact that I'm supposed to get these cars either from a dealer or a press office there is no fuel budget for the shot, I appreciate that this is not ideal, especially with the price of fuel at the moment, and I'm not asking for anyone to do this unless they want to, but if there is an owner who is close to Derby or Beaulieu and who feels that a professional photoshoot, which would cost approximately £400, is a fair swap for their time (a photoshoot takes about 3-4 hours) and fuel, then I can obviously give them more details.

We put these requests onto the model forums as private owners may value the pictures more than dealers who have no need for them once the car has been sold.

Can you please get in touch with me if you’ve got a car that we can put in the studio – it needs to be a tidy example that hasn’t been modified. The spec doesn’t matter, it just needs to be a non-modified car. There will only be studio photography of the car, so there will be no dynamic shots taken at all. Only you will drive the car and you can stay with it at all times.

If you think you might be able to help, could you drop me a line please, either via this forum or direct to my email address (vicky@magiccarpics.co.uk) – attaching photos if possible.

Please note that the Derby photographer can work weekends if necessary.

We haven't done a Toyota for some time and we are looking to redress this, so I will be posting this request on other model forums to get the Toyotas featured.

Thanks for your time,

Vicky

Anyone know how positive (or not) Auto Express coverage of Toyota, Toyota hybrids, and Toyota hybrid owners has been in the past? ;)

NOTE: Just looked at their website and they do seem balanced. Think I was mistaking them with "We Love Audi/VW's only What Car"

I subscribe to Auto Express (Autocar and Top Gear), and the AE buying guides generally cover a two page spread, and are meant to highlight any pro/cons, problem areas, etc for prospective buyers. Photos - generally a front three quarter view and a rear three quarter view, a couple of the interior (usually accompanied by comments on build quality, practicality, front/rear space, etc), and one each for any particular problem areas. So around 7-8 photos.

Which gen3 prius? There is the original 2009-2012, and the facelifted 2012+.

Beaulieu is great for me :) but my 2009 gen3 has got a few miles on it and it shows.

So not very photogenic. :(

Hi Johalareewi

Either Gen 3 is fine as the feature would talk about both. Appreciate what you are saying about the mileage but if you have a couple of snapshots you can send over I can show them to the Art Ed and he can make the decision if that's of any help?

Thanks

Vicky

I have done this previously with my Gen 2 Prius at Beaulieu and found it very interesting, also got a nice set of photos on disc.

Dave.

I have a 13 plate Gen 3 which I try to keep nice and tidy, and Derby is doable for me. No mods other than I took the wheel trims off!

Hi Mkuk0

Do you have any snapshots you can send over of your Prius? The Art Ed has to make the final decision and he needs photos to help him if that's OK.

I do have to say that you Prius owners are very generous as we have had a good response to this plea and I am very grateful for this, thank you.

Regards

Vicky

Hi Mkuk0

Thank you for this, I have sent it to the Art Ed along with a few others. He will make the final choice and I do have to say that it will be based on the colour in this instance, as the cars that have been offered are all exactly what we need. It always seems such a 'girly' reason to give but in print some colours stand out better than others.

Thanks

Vicky
