its not related to the pedal movement its when I'm moving slowly over a speed bump and it engages and squeaks

I didn't fit it i took it to a garage as i could be bothered to do it myself

Could it be out of adjustment or they didn't clean it down before fitting?

just need some ideas never had any clutch problems in the past

I would take it back to your fitters and get them to check the release bearing...

I have never heard a car clutch aqueak, screech yes but no squeaks!

You cant miss alight the clutch, its one shaft and one whole. As along as its centred it should be fine.

If they have failed to clean the main shaft you will get clutch slack.

This is basically where the clutch is sticking, not greasing the release bearing could cause similar symptoms.

Back to the shop mate and ask them to look at it.

Hi,

Not sure how your clutch can 'engage' if you are not operating the pedal ?

The pedal plunger into the clutch master cylinder and the slave cylinder operating arm are well know 'squeak' points that some white grease usually cures.

If its really noting to do with any pedal movement at all, then apart from internal clutch problems as already mentioned, it could be a squeaking engine mount or suspension mounting that was loosened or removed during fitting thats perhaps loose, too tight or dry/rusty; any sound if you 'bounce' the car body or engine ?

Not sure if they have to drop the exhaust downpipes on that model, could be something loose there as well.

Again as said, take it back to the garage for them to correct if its a result of their works.

Does it sound like a clutch slipping?

I had this before with a certain branded clutch. The clutch was'nt cleaned before it was fitted. It went away once the clutch had bedded in.

Also, how did the previous clutch go?

The release bearing runs on a sleeve that is part of a casting on the gearbox,

As advised above it would be worth going back to the place where the new clutch was fitted.
