New Aygo Sneak Pictures

Think it certainly looks better than the C1 - the sidelights and indicators above the headlamps make the C1 look damned ugly. The 108 looks a bit too much like the Skoda Citigo from the front

I need HELP! Please provide some positive feedback for me on this new shape. Its not doing it for me or does the "chemstry" come later with her? lol The side upward angle of the rear window reminds me of the old Phase 1 Hyundai i10. I need more pics and to see it in real life as it looks like one of those cheap Korean cars.

OK, bite the bullet, I think the new shape is superb, it has an edge to it.

I love the lights, it gives it a shark look.

Unlike the 108 jelly mould

Haha! Raistlin. "Jelly mould". Interesting choice of words. I might be what you call a "grower". I might grow and like the new Aygo. Its a bit fussy with all the different angles and lines. From the side its like an Hyundai I10, and the rear a touch of an old Mark 3 Punto! :(

Anything that looks like it's from Blakes 7 works for me... Maximum Power :)

Or is it more like the X-wing Starfighter from Star Wars?

Well, Im actually chinese-scottish. It`d be cool to have a metallic blue body but with a silver X. Bet you in Scotland someone will create a Saltire one. lol

How about you can specify how the cross is, i.e. vertical and horizontal for the English market, one with a circle for the Japanese market, one with 3 horizontal stripes, black, yellow and red for the German market and so on!

There is going to be loads of customisation available, the car at the Genva show is the x-cite model ( the sporty look ) the front grille x, upper front wing finisher, mirror covers and rear bumper insert are all changeable. For the interior all the painted trims are also swappable by either packs or as as individual parts.

Download an app from Toyota, I searched Touyota eu which contains loads of info

Looks nice from all angles apart from the front. The black cross style does nothing for me I am afraid to say.

If it is just the black colour that's the issue the x-grille ( and loads of other trim ) is swappable and colours and finishes are customisable

What I find more disappointing than anything else, is Toyota are only offering one engine the 1.0 12v just revised, Peugeot/Citroen are offering two the same revised 1.0 12v and also a more powerful 1.2 12v as well. I really fancied the bigger engine choice :disgust:

I'm not sure whether the PSA engines are versions of the Toyota engine. They are supposed to have a new range of 3 cylinder 1.0 litre and 1.2 litre engines - which they also use in the 208 - but the 1.0 litre has the same capacity, power output and CO2 emssions as the Toyota 1.0 litre engine.

So are the 1.0 and 1.2 litre engines PSA's own or are the engines sourced from Toyota? If they are a PSA engine, that might be why there is no 1.2 Aygo.

TBH I really don't know the 1.0 appears on paper to be identical, so would seem to the revised 1KR 1.0 Toyota engine, the 1.2 is definitely a PSA unit. Most likely like the 1.4 hdi in the current PSA Toyota have decided not to use the PSA unit ( they do have a 5 year warranty to consider ) perhaps Toyota will offer a different option a 1.0 turbo would be nice, although a Hybrid may also be an option later on.

When I get new Aygo training in June we may be able to get an answer as to why until then I can only guess

Seems a DAB supported radio still isn't standard, with the broadcast coverage of DAB in the UK good and getting better, car manufacters should be getting their act together

As per the post here: http://po.st/allnewAYGO the exact UK specification is still to be confirmed, but if would appear that DAB will be optional on car with standard audio systems and standard on car with x-touch multimedia, but no one will know unitl the official UK specs are released to dealers nearer the UK launch.

  • 2 weeks later...

I suspect that the Aygo will be using the Toyota engine, and the Citroen and Peugeot will use PSA's 1.0 litre and 1.2 litre engines. According to the PSA websites, the C1 and 108 will be available with a stop/start system (same as the Peugeot 208), whereas there is no mention of this for the Aygo.

Toyota did drop the stop/start system on the 1.33 for the current Yaris citing the fact it was too expensive, and I understand it has also been dropped on the 1.33 IQ.

I have been driving a Skoda Citigo Elegance this week which also has a stop/start system - and I am not convinced this works well with a three cylinder engine. Restarts in the Citigo were really quite rough and vocal - quite different to the stop.start system in either of my (admittedly four cylinder) Auris.
