Fuel Filler Cap Catch Broken

Just noticed the fuel door on my 04 spirit is open, the release pin is missing or stuck "in"

Tried release oil to free it or is it possible to break or the pin to pop out.

Can you pry the fitting out from outside the car to check ???

The pin is on the end of a solenoid unit activated by the door mounted push button, try pressing the button a couple of times to see if it will free off, you also have an emergency pull cord on the LHR side of the boot. Access to the solenoid unit will require the LH boot side trim coming out.
