Hi Guys,

I was hoping one you guys would confirm is this is the EGR on a 2006 Yaris D4D.

My father owns the vehicle in question and it's giving off black smoke, lacking power, not going past 50mph and running rough overall. As it's a driving instructor vehicle and doesn't get driven hard, I'm pretty sure it's the EGR valve which is blocked but just wanted to confirm the location as there are a few posts between this model and the older model which are confusing me.

Also, are there any guides on removing the unit? If not, I could knock one together if it would help anyone? I've been looking on the forum for about an hour but can't find one..

Thanks in advance for any help.

Kaz

I'm 98% sure that is the EGR.

I have an Auris and the EGR for that is similar in terms of position and shape.

You will need to reset the fault code  and then try running the engine.

Did you reset the code?

Pant ,  are you sure P2463 is Egr fault. I got a feeling it's the dpf.

Pant ,  I don't understand your reply. Looking at your attached picture you have confirmed the fault suggest a DPF.

What is your mileage ?

Your problem us that your DPF is blocked by soot. You need it to be looked at as early as possible. My yaris dpf blocked at around 46k miles and had it replaces under warranty .

You can't, as the car has a DPF the EGR gas flow is monitored to prevent damage to the DPF if you blank the EGR you set a fault code and the car will go into limp mode.

pitty :( ... i remember during dpf regeneration the egr is fully closed all the time....either you have full throtle or not...

So the ecu will see that there is no flow via the egr...so we got fault code...and limp mode?

is there a way despite reprogramming to "cheat" the ecu ?

hmmm... and if there was a way...where the blaking plate should be between?
