Mr2 Turbo Auto?

Had 2 MR2's previously, one turboed and one naturally aspirated blah blah etcetera.

Now I have my eye on another solid turbo model bit it's an auto, nobody seems to want to commit to how good, bad, excellent or indeed crap these are.

The car is sitting at £1200 taxed and tested and I have a budget of around £2000 to spend on the usual, suspension, brakes, exhaust, remap, new bushes and wheels and tyres.

Does anyone own, know of, or can really tell me if the auto is a disaster waiting to happen or actually isn't that bad?

What should I look for, what should be checked on the box, renewed and such?

I have had all sorts of ridiculously fast cars and bikes so I'm not overly obsessed with redlining the thing or pushing things to far. But I like the idea of a turboed MR2 with that semi auto box as it's a bit different.

If the box gives up can I just fit a manual box?

Are semi auto boxes available? If so what cost?

First off what model MR2? the mk 3 had the semi auto box

Nothing wrong with the MK2 auto N\A .

if its a MK3 then they can go wrong ,but they didn't make a factory turbo ,so more to go wrong

not sure if the turbo would be too strong for the standard box on the MR2

So there is no such thing as a toyota factory mr2 turbo with an auto box?

Where can I check chassis numbers etc?
