Engine Management Light

Hi my 2000 1.6 petrol corolla has decided to let its engine management light come on. I haven't noticed any difference in sound or capabilites does anyone have any ideas please

Did you scan to see what code its thrown with the engine light?

You need to know the code. Pop the Battery lead of for a short time to clear the light and see if it comes back on again. Have you been playing with the engine at all?

I've not ran it through a computer yet as trying to find someone that can do it for me. Not touched the engine at all, was driving to mums today and it came on. Also noticed a slight burning rubber smell occasionally coming from drivers side rear wheel?

Maybe there is a local member from one of the other 2 CorollaClubs will have a code reader. Or any TOC members local to you.

I know you need help now but eBay has OBD2 readers for about £20.

You plug the reader into what looks like a SCART Socket under the dash, easy enough to do. Assuming you have a vvti facelift version.
