Hi, yes I read the article but Toyota have said there's nothing wrong with the engine and with no loss of power or water/oil and no warning lights flashing it seem to be a mystery the cars now been to Toyota three times and an independent twice and still no nearer to a solution .

The cost of just tying to find out what's wrong with it including a new cat and exhaust that wasn't the problem is now exceeding £800 and im now weighing up whether to carry on or would be better to get rid .

I only use BP Ultima Diesel after Toyota keep telling me DPF my local garage think its a faulty injector pumping to much fuel in to the engine and burning it the exhaust so tomorrow there going away for testing and maybe I didn't need a new cat and exhaust for £550 that Toyota recommended wait and see.

Hi

So you car has been to 'the' garage 5 times and you are no nearer to getting it sorted. Have you actually asked Toyota if it had a replacement engine during it's warranty period, they can tell you in an instant as it will be logged in their computer.

Personally i'd cut my losses, if you still want a Rav look for a newer one, a 150, that should be problem free if your budget can afford it, at least that way you will know your outgoings each month rather than throwing large amounts of money at it and each time never knowing if it will cure your problem.

Me, not knowing the problems with a 3 year period of earlier 180's, well I bought lucky and bought a 150 2012 D-Cat, goes well, and I am not tempted to fit a chip box to it to increase the power as I don't think any make of chip box suit the 150's settings very well.

Mike.

There is a bulletin form Toyota only for cars with DPNR of which your Rav is one that mentions Excessive white smoke from the exhaust, there is some diagnosis to confirm the cause:

Check 5th injector operation

Check for air leaks

Check and calculate MAF operation

Check EGR , EGR cooler for blockage

If any of the above a faulty then repair, and then

Reprogramme ECU with updated software

Carry our forced regen on DPNR if this occurs then fault is fixed if not replace the DPNR

The bulletin reference is EG-0004T-0110-EN

Has this been done?
