Toyota Corolla 1.9D

Hi Guys I have recently purchased a 2000 W Reg Toyota Corolla 1.9D Estate.

As a 22 y/o comimg from a 1999 Toyota Avensis GLS Saloon I am loving the increased economy!

I beleive this is the Peugeot engine in this car.

What I wanted to ask as I have never seen one for sale before or even now what are these actually worth?

Are they worth more than the 2.0D engine in the same era Corolla's?

Also which is the better car in terms of reliability, performance & economy.

All help will be appreciated.

If only it was a Saloon/Hatchback for that extra wow factor.

Thanks Guys! Looking forward for info

Believe it has the PSA XUD engine - as fitted in cars like the Rover 200, Peugeot 306/309/405 etc, Citroen ZX/Xsara/Berlingo etc, FSO Polonez, and so on.

Yes just to confirm it is the 1WZ engine from PSA.

Should be good for Galactic mileages if cared for.

Mine has a low 101k. Will be getting in serviced sometime this week or next.

Enjoying well actually loving the economy!

One happy owner here :-)

Congrats on your purchase, Shahid.

It's a very sensible model, an Estate is very practical.

I've owned my 2000 X Reg 1.9D Corolla 5door hatch for the past 12 years. It's now on 111,000 miles

Easily the best car i've every owned for reliability, it's never let me down.

Good on economy 50 mpg, cheap on insurance cost, the only bugbear is the pre-band vehicle tax of [230 quid per year?] but even that is not so bad when you consider the vehicle depreciation is now very little, or nothing.

Some minor electrical grumblings such as the fog light comes on occasionally for an unknown reason, and rear wiper has trouble parking so keeps sweeping with a judder motion - these seem to be common little problems to the model.

After the Avensis you will probably notice the 1.9D is a slower car to drive, and the engine can sound busy at motorway speeds, but you get used to this over time,

just let people overtake and get the speeding fines, you keep a clean licence :)
